Keep your chin up — While it might be tempting to look down at your feet as you walk in your brand new silver high heels, keeping your head down means you’ll miss obvious obstacles in front of you, and hardly makes for a glamorous entrance. Not only that, but looking down can even unbalance you more than you might otherwise feel! Keep your head up and your eyes straight forward when walking, and focus on a still object several metres away from you to help steady yourself.
Start small before you reach great heights — Let’s face it, walking in heels can really be a workout. While purchasing well-made womens high heels will help you get used to them, you may need to train your muscles before you can manage a huge stiletto. If you’re a beginner, opt for a shorter, wider heel and an ankle strap so you can train your feet.

Stay well heeled (except on stairs) — When walking in heels, you want to plant the heel of your foot down first, and then allow your toe to follow. The only exception to this rule is on stairs, when you should put most of your weight on your toe for maximum stability.
