Meet Bridie
Meet 21 year old Melbourne model and #girlboss Bridie Goold.
Breaking the stereotypes of the modelling industry, she swoons with her intelligence, quick wit, fierce cropped cut and oh-so perfect peachy cheeks.
You’ve told us you’re studying linguistics, what inspired you to start this course?
I find human empathy fascinating and I think there is still so much to learn about what motivates, prevents and causes humans to empathise with each other. I’m hoping linguistics might one day have something to say about the area, and that studying different languages will increase my empathy for others no matter which culture they’re from.
How do you spend your time off?
I love reading! I most like to read classic or contemporary philosophy and anything about modern psychology.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learnt so far in the modelling industry?
Rejection is based on a mould I just happen to not have the right genetics for and nothing to do with who I am. I’m extremely lucky to be born with the right genetics to fit an image some people are after, but being kind gets you much further in life.
Favourite piece of advice you’ve ever read or heard?
To keep in mind that there is no such thing as a fixed identity; you and people can change and sometimes binding yourself to a specific idea prevents you from trying new things or changing your own flaws. The more you think you have a flaw, the truer it becomes.
What does confidence mean to you?
Doing something i have chosen to do myself and being able to smile through it. If it’s too hard to crack a smile, it probably isn’t for me.
What makes you feel most confident?
Being informed about what I’m doing, I don’t like jumping into things or commenting on what I don’t know about. Learning as much as I can first, whether it be for education, modelling or anything.. helps!
What’s your favourite kind of workout and how do you remain motivated?
To be honest I’ve been to the gym twice in my whole life semi-voluntarily. The only exercise I do intentionally is scenic walking and beautiful landscapes are what motivate me to exercise.
Do you remember your favourite childhood book?
My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell was and will always be one of my favourite books.
What are you binge watching on Netflix right now?
Gilmore Girls (for the seventh time, whoops). Not the revisit, the original.
In five years, where do you want to be?
Researching the relationship between language and empathy at uni still. Hopefully making a breakthrough!
What is your favourite shoe from the Spring Racing collection and why?
The Austine! I loooove glittery and sparkly shoes. These are too cute and anything that makes me feel like a twinkle toes has me walking out in confidence.
