Give us a rundown of your styled look.
I opted for a black dress layered with a grey turtleneck as it’s not yet warm enough to ditch the knits, but I needed some skin out to really show off the shoes. To keep the look relaxed yet polished I deliberately kept to a simple colour palette.
We love the versatility of the Julie Ballet! How would you take this trend from day to night?
I sometimes feel bad for the ballet flat. It can be perceived as being a bit of a dag, but I think it’s totally the opposite. It is a classic piece that every girl needs in her wardrobe, and the Julie Ballet in particular is gorgeous because of the lace ups. During the day, I would tie them simply around the ankle but to transition the look for a night out, go nuts with tying the laces as far as they go up your leg. Imagine that with a little black dress and a bright lip – 10/10 I say!
Your top tip for styling lace-up ballet flats?
My first instinct when styling flats is to keep the look delicate and feminine, but I think it’s important not to be afraid to play them up as well! You can tie the lace ups over a pair of leather leggings, or pair them with a boxy shift dress. The great thing about lace-up flats is that they are a classic look that can be easily adapted to any style.
