LIKE MOTHER LIKE DAUGHTER
6th May 2016
In celebration of Mother’s Day, we asked our favourite Mother-daughter trio Debra Wittner and her daughters Ali and Lucy their greatest lessons in work, life and in sharing the special bond that is mother and daughter. While for Lucy this even includes sharing a workplace with her mum, for her sister Ali, we hear how her Deb has encouraged her in finding a new and different career direction.

How has your mum encouraged you to find your own career path?
Without mum’s support or belief in me I would have never started my own business. She has always given me the confidence to push my boundaries and reach my fullest potential. She always takes the time to sit down and discuss business ideas with me as well as show me my strengths and what I can achieve even when I didn’t think I could.
What would be the greatest lesson in business you’ve learnt from your mum?
Its all about attitude. You have to look at the glass as being half full not half empty and keep persisting even when things get hard.
What is the greatest piece of advice your mum has given you?
“If you don’t ask, you don’t get”
What’s your favourite memory with your mum?
Too many to choose from! Her coming to visit me when I was living in New York was always special.
What do you admire most about your mum?
Her confidence and determination to succeed. Despite many bumps in the road in her life, she is a superwomen who has worked full-time as well as bringing us kids up full-time, providing us with the best lifestyle we could have dreamed of.
How are you planning to celebrate mother’s day this year?
